Getting started
Mythic Life Counter is a shared life counter for tabletop games. Use it for casual kitchen-table play, or connect to Mythic Gathering events — find listings, register or join, and stay synced when hosts run Mythic Tournament. The app teaches you how to use the interface — not the full rules of Magic: The Gathering.
The first time you open the app, you may be asked to accept the Privacy & Legal policy. After that, a short Getting Started Tour runs once. Replay it anytime from Options → Getting Started Tour.
Starting a game
From Home, tap New Game for a casual table — choose number of players (2–6), starting life, and player names, then Start Game. For organized play, use Find Events to search Mythic Gathering listings and register or join tonight’s event.
Typical casual flow: Home → New Game → Start Game. Typical event flow: Home → Find Events → register/join → check in → play.

Using the game table
Each player has a card on the table. Tap one side to lose life and the other to gain. Press and hold for faster changes. The top bar includes Menu (options, logs, end game), d20 (dice and coin when unlocked), and Undo. On Android, the system Back button closes menus before starting the end-game flow. During connected events, waiting-room and pairing views may appear between rounds when the host publishes them.
How this app works
This matches the in-app guide. For the quickest walkthrough, use Options → Getting Started Tour inside the app. For event play, also use Find Events to connect to Mythic Gathering.
Your first game
Open the app → accept Privacy & Legal if prompted → optional Getting Started Tour → tap New Game → choose players, life, and names → Start Game. When the match ends, use Menu → End Game to return to setup, or Menu → Reset Game to keep the same players and look while clearing totals and counters.
New game setup
- Player count (2–6), starting life, and display names
- Full app: font colors and gradients; player card colors, gradients, artwork, or photos; save/load presets per seat; game format presets (Commander, Standard, Sealed, and more) that suggest life totals and default options
Life counter table
All 2–6 player cards stay visible on one screen. Seats rotate so everyone around the table can read their own card. Optional Commander damage and poison use separate controls. Knockout prompts appear when a player hits a losing condition, with an option for effects that keep you in the game.
Table options & menu (full app)
- Game and per-player timers; turn tracker with Pass; random or manual first player
- Commander damage, poison, experience, energy, treasure; game log; table background styling
- Menu: game log, table options, player options, dice & coin, declare draw, end game, reset game
- Game Archive stores saved logs; Player Stats tracks wins, losses, draws, and games played
Premium menu items open the unlock screen if you have not purchased yet. Under Options → Data, you can permanently delete saved profiles, stats, or archived logs.
Connected events
Find Events connects Mythic Life Counter to Mythic Gathering listings. You can register or join from the app, check in with staff, see pairings when the host publishes them in Mythic Tournament, and submit match results from the table when the format supports it. Staff can always enter or override results in Mythic Tournament or at the Mythic Gathering counter desk.
